BEYOND THE EMERGENCY

Turning Point is a national addiction treatment centre, dedicated to providing high quality, evidence-based treatment to people adversely affected by alcohol, drugs, gambling and those who suffer from suicidal thoughts and feelings.

Australia’s suicide rates have increased dramatically, and any information regarding geographical area’s of concern that are in desperate need of intervention, can take up to three years to be released. Turning Point and Monash university have created an application which is provided to Ambulance workers. The app provides a live update during calls to incidences of attempted suicide, those suffering from suicidal thoughts and feelings, self harm attempts and suicidal deaths. Personal information on individuals is not recorded however this information shows a detailed picture of the area’s in need of intervention and assistance.

The Ambo Project is an explainer animation which intends to educate and inform stakeholders of the benefits the application can provide.
